Summary: Here he is flirting with some guy and jumping into situations that are none of his business
Yongguk is shopping in the local mart after a long 2-day at the studio. It's 9pm and he's tired but his fridge is bare and he'll be hungry in the morning. He absent-mindedly reaches for a bag of apples when a slender male darts passed him. He's way too fast for Yongguk to catch a glimpse of his face but he watches the back of his bleached blonde head until he turns a corner. Yongguk wonders for a moment if the stranger is a foreigner but pushes it to the back of his mind when he realises his fingers are just inches from the apples. He quickly swings a bag into his basket. He’s too tired for this shit.
Two aisles later he's looking at breakfast cereals. There's a box of imported lucky charms on the shelf and he bites his lip, tempted by the promise of marshmallows and sugar. There's a flash of white that he notices from the corner of his eye and he twists to watch the blonde from earlier scurry down the aisle. He watches curiously, even after he disappears from sight and pulls the cereal box from the shelf.
The clicking of high heels alert him to the presence of someone else and he glances up from the sugar contents of the cereal to see a couple walking side by side. The female looks kind of delicate though she's tall and her cheeks are gaunt. Her hair is curled and she looks like a weird porcelain doll. The guy who is barely taller than her has a shaved head and leather jacket. His face is round like the moon and his neck is thick. They're a strange looking couple but oddly suited.
'He looks so pathetic' Yongguk hears as they get closer. Her voice is unnaturally high - so high he's certain she's putting it on. He glances down at his outfit, suddenly very paranoid that the stranger means him. He didn't think he looks too bad - he's wearing jeans, a black V-neck and an oversized hoodie. He lifts his head up as they get closer and watches warily from the corner of his eye. They pass him by without so much as a glance and Yongguk feels relieved... kind of.
'Have you told the police? You should be careful with stalkers' she says again and Yongguk realises they definitely aren't talking about him. The man sighs, pausing to grab cereal bars. Yongguk puts the cereal into his basket and starts in the same direction as the couple. A small part of him is intrigued by the conversation.
The man shifts the basket between his hands and they move to the aisle with biscuits and cookies. Yongguk drifts that way, trying to remember how many cookies he had left in the cookie jar his mother had bought him. 'I feel bad for him' says the guy, over exaggerating as they both examine biscuits. Yongguk heads straight to the chocolate chip cookies and carries on, not wanting to be too obvious. 'We went out for a few months and it was just supposed to be a bit of fun but then he got all needy. God, he's such a little bitch' his voice irritates Yongguk. There's a sneer to it that goes straight through him. 'He was always asking me to do shit with him; parties, concerts - even a fucking funeral' There’s a pause and he hears the man sigh. ‘Was his uncle or something’ Yongguk shakes his head in disgust, only to bump into the blonde haired male as he turns a corner.
He catches the other by the arms, coming face to face with perhaps the most stunning person he's ever seen; cat like eyes, a straight nose and slender lips. His white-blonde hair falls over dark eyebrows and curls towards his right eye. Yongguk wonders how it feels to touch. The blush that spreads across his cheeks is dainty and his lips turn upwards, just so. He licks his dry lower lip with his tongue and Yongguk notices the moist look in his eyes. He looks like he’s about to cry. 'I'm sorry' he murmurs. His voice is lower than Yongguk expected and he trembles in Yongguk’s hold. The voices of the couple start to drift closer and the other's blush deepens. Yongguk lets him go.
'He's nothing like you' Yongguk hears the man say. The girl giggles in response though it sounds more like nails on a chalkboard. Yongguk moves towards the next aisle and browses the coffee. Americano or Columbian? 'That hair colour looks awful on him' the girl laughs and Yongguk can almost imagine her preening at her own hair. 'Yeah, well he looks pretty girly and I was curious so I thought if I'm gonna be with a man, I want a fairy; you know, a guy who acts like a girl. He's nowhere near as beautiful as you though' Yongguk feels a little bit sick.
He shakes the couple off for a while but bumps into them again when he's smelling deodorants. The blonde appears at the other end of the aisle browsing shower gels. Yongguk watches from the corner of his eye. 'I never felt anything for him. He was more of a friend with benefits than anything' comes the male voice. The blonde drops the shower gel he was holding into his basket and starts walking down the aisle. Yongguk turns his head ever so slightly. He notices the other wearing a grey sweater and tight fitting plaid pants. He looks good dressed casually and Yongguk wonders if the loud-mouthed male has some sort of vision impairment because up-close there’s something fox-like about the blonde’s face. Yongguk was sure he must be a model of some kind.
'I thought you said you weren't friends' says the girl, breaking through the tension and Yongguk notices the blonde stop. He looks up at him - not trying to hide his staring and notices the blonde drop his head, fists clenched. 'Yeah - I guess he was more of a booty call than anything' laughs the male Yongguk decides to nickname 'dickhead'. The blonde bites down on his own lip and lets out a deep breath. Yongguk exhales too, surprised to realise he'd been holding his breath. He's about to ask the other if he's alright when he suddenly starts moving and Yongguk catches the muttered 'what a jackass' as the other darts passed. The couple round the corner some moments later.
Yongguk wrestles with his inner thoughts for a while - should he talk to the other? Should he forget this entire conversation ever happened? The blonde looked pretty upset and the dickhead was clearly showing off for that witch of his. Yongguk thought for a while catching glimpses of the blonde and the couple on various aisles. He made his mind up.
He was gonna talk to him - ask if he was ok.
Only he didn't get chance because when he turned into the bread aisle there they were. The blonde was stood with his back to Yongguk and the couple were stood facing him. He hid himself behind the end display and after a few moments of silence peered out. He glanced at the tense shoulders of the blonde and the hand balled into a fist. The slightly off-guard expression of the annoying male and the smirk that suddenly fell across the female's lips.
'Himchan-ssi' her voice cuts through the air like a rusty knife. 'It's nice to... meet you. I heard a lot about you' the slow drawl of her voice makes Yongguk shudder. The blonde - Himchan swallows noisily and the other male chuckles. 'Can't get enough of me?' He laughs, curling an arm around the girl's shoulder. 'You never could. Such a greedy little -' Yongguk can't take it anymore.
'Baby!' He shouts, grin plastered onto his face as he steps into the aisle. The three turn to him with identical shocked expressions which only deepen as he wraps an arm around the blonde and pulls him against his chest. The girl takes a few steps back, hands to her mouth and Yongguk catches the slack-jawed look the ex-boyfriend sends their way. Yongguk smiles against the blonde's ear, nose brushing his hair. He smells good. 'Yongguk. Play along' he murmurs and then kisses Himchan’s temple. He pulls away from the blonde. 'Friends of yours?' Yongguk asks, looking them up and down. Yongguk shifts the basket to his other hand before entwining their fingers.
'Who- who's this?' Asks the other male coming closer. He's stockier than Yongguk, probably weighs a little more too but Yongguk is taller, coming eye to eye with the blonde beside him. He squeezes Himchan’s hand when he feels it shake. The other squeezes back and Yongguk suddenly feels like he could take on the world. 'This is Yongguk' says the male finally. Yongguk loves the sound of his name from the other's lips. The other stares for a moment, sizing him up and there's this little crease between this thick eyebrows as he stares at Yongguk’s face a little longer than necessary. 'You look familiar - have we met before?' Yongguk shakes his head and squeezes Himchan’s hand again. 'I go by Jepp Blackman in the und-' the other's face lights up for a moment realising why he recognises him then suddenly it falls and Yongguk watches as realisation dawns on him.
'We should be going' Yongguk butts into his inner struggles and swings their hands between them. The other couple nod and Yongguk feels Himchan pull away as he bows his head. A horrible idea flashes through his head and he pulls Himchan close, lips brushing his ear. He inwardly cheers when the other shudders, a heavy little pant ghosting his collarbone. 'You get the dessert and I'll get the wine' he pulls away but not before giving the other's backside a playful pat and watches Himchan leave. He turns to the slightly stunned couple and with a nod of his head - he leaves too.
He catches up to Himchan at the checkout, the blonde coming to stand behind him. Yongguk doesn't acknowledge him at first - he's trying to stop the smile that wants to cover his entire face. 'Thanks for what you did back there, Yongguk-ssi. I'm sorry for inconveniencing you' the blonde bows apologetically and Yongguk tries to school his features as he watches the check-out girl scan his cereal through. He glances over to where Himchan is already unloading the contents of his basket and frowns. 'Himchan-ssi, Where's the dessert?' He asks throwing an expectant look. The other freezes and drops a packet of rice. Yongguk watches the blush that colours his face.
'I - you - what?' Stammers the blond. He looks back up in time to see the girl scan a bottle of wine and Yongguk’s pout. 'I thought you were joking' the blonde hisses. The girl glances between them and clears her throat so Yongguk quickly hands her several notes. 'Aish' he mutters, scraping a hand through his own brown hair. Himchan's eyes are wide, jaw slack and he looks like a deer caught in headlights. It’s kind of cute. Yongguk collects his change and bags. 'Forget it' he says - a little too harshly and leaves. Himchan makes a choked sound - clearly wanting to say something.
Yongguk stops outside, leaning his back against the front wall of the super mart. It's only a moment or two later that the blonde comes running out, clutching at his jacket cause damn, it's cold. Himchan looks around frantically, reaching to tug at his own hair and breath steaming out in coils of grey smoke in the cold night air when he notices Yongguk. The tension melts from his body as he lets out another breath and the determined look he had just moments ago is replaced by something entirely different.
Yongguk pushes off the wall and makes his way over. Himchan's expression falls meek and Yongguk touches a hand to the other's chin. 'I thought' Himchan starts. Brows knotted in confusion and cheeks red. Yongguk cuts him off with a soft chuckle and he tugs gently at the other's earlobe. 'I'm not letting you get away that easily, Himchan-ssi. We can get dessert on the way' Yongguk grins. Himchan tilts his head to a side. 'Where?' He looks so adorable. Yongguk laughs and gives his shoulder a gentle push. 'To your place. You're cooking your new boyfriend dinner' Yongguk’s pretty sure he's blushing by now too. Himchan's eyes drop, mouth falling open and suddenly Yongguk feels a little uneasy. 'I already have a boyfriend, Yongguk-ssi'
Oh. Yongguk feels like an ass.
Here he is flirting with some guy and jumping into situations that are none of his business when -
Himchan lets out a bark of laughter. The slender blonde doubles over slightly, hand falling to Yongguk’s shoulder because he feels like his legs will collapse at any moment. The sound of it does funny things to Yongguk’s insides. 'Your face' he laughs, giving Yongguk’s cheek a playful pinch. The brunette looks confused and it's simply adorable. Himchan curls an arm around Yongguk’s neck and presses his lips to the corner of Yongguk’s before taking his wrist. He guides him back to the store where the checkout girl looks a little confused.
‘He’s known in the underground as Jepp Blackman'
