Summary: Himchan goes back to work after a car accident and is forced to face the person he's not quite ready to see
Notes: Security Guard!Yongguk and Office worker! Himchan. Loosely based on a true event
It’s Himchan’s first day back at work, since the accident and when the clock hits 5pm, he’s glad to be going home. It’s not that he hates his job - he quite likes working for the government. It’s a little dull at times and some people would find sitting behind a desk boring but Himchan likes the monotony and the perks of long breaks and big pay cheques.
He grabs his water bottle and briefcase, turns - and promptly drops them, a small undignified squeak escaping him. ‘Himchan ssi’ Jieun, his pretty co-worker giggles, a hand lifting to her mouth. Her multiple gold bracelets clink and rattle against each other. ‘Did I scare you?’ She asks, tilting her head and batting her eyelashes just so. He nods.
‘How are you feeling?’
Her hand drops to his bicep and he flinches. Her lips part in a surprised shape and he feels the flush of heat that rushes to his face. ‘Sorry, I …’ He tugs at the cuff of his sleeve and her eyes follow the movement. He’s well aware how strange it must look, having one sleeve rolled up to the elbow and the other down to his wrist but he’s insecure and doesn’t want to be reminded of the ugly red scar that travels the length of his wrist to his elbow.
‘I’m okay, thanks. Just a little tired’ He tries his best to smile but it seems the last few months recovering from a near-fatal car crash has left his socialising skills a little rusty and the smile everyone deemed his ‘politician’s smile’ probably doesn’t work the way it used too. Something flashes in Jieun’s eyes and she nods.
‘I’d better go. I’m going to zumba with the girls’ Himchan nods, tries to smile a little brighter and she pats his fore-arm. She only reaches the next desk when she pauses and looks back at him. ‘Himchan, if you need anything…’ He nods, he understands and she scurries off, heels clicking along the way.

Downstairs he spots the familiar faces of some of the security guards gathered behind the reception desk. It takes three paces for them to glance up, a fourth for Jongup to realise it’s him and by the seventh he’s gripped in tight arms.
‘Hyung!’
He wheezes for air feeling the younger boy’s arms squeezing his ribs. Daehyun glances up from his seat behind the desk - he likes working the night reception shifts because it’s quiet and he gets to goof off with the security guards. Youngjae is over moments later, trying to pry Jongup’s arms away.
‘You’re finally back. We really missed you, hyung. How are you feeling? Are you ok? Is your -’ Jongup is cut-off and Himchan smiles as he notices Minhyuk and Yookwon flanking the younger male. ‘We’re really glad you’re back, Himchan ah’
‘I’m glad to be back’ Himchan smiles, reaching to pull the small group into a hug. ‘I really missed you guys’ and he means it, really means it. The rag-tag bunch of security guards are part of what makes his days at work fun. There’s always some gossip running around the offices about who slept with who and who’s getting fired and the security guards always know first.
‘You know’ Starts Yookwon, a playful twinkle reaching his eye. Minhyuk gives him a warning look as though he knows what he’s about to say and he probably does. ‘I know someone who has really missed you’
Himchan feels the blood rushing to his face again.
He doesn’t need to ask who that someone could be.
‘Kwon ah, I already told you not to’ Minhyuk gives his shoulder a playful shove and Jongup watches them like a confused puppy. He’s not the brightest of the bunch but he’s a sweet kid and his muscle power more than makes up for his scatterbrain moments. ‘Who are you talking
about, Hyung?’
There’s no need to answer the younger boy because a side door soon flies open and the one person Himchan isn’t quite ready to see bursts through the door - followed by a new face Himchan hasn’t seen before trailing behind. ‘Kim Himchan!’ Comes a booming voice just inches from his ear and Himchan is instantly engulfed in a bear hug that could rival Jongup’s. The smell of sweat and expensive cologne fills his nostrils and it both calms and excites him at the same time.
‘Yongguk’
Bang Yongguk. The mere name gives him chills and here he is, with every single inch of his body pressed against him.
‘How are you feeling, Chan ah? Are you ok?’ Yongguk pulls back, just enough to keep him at arm’s reach and rakes his eyes over Himchan’s
body. The corner of his lip twists and his eyes narrow slightly. He drops his hands, curling them around Himchan’s wrists.
‘Yongguk ah, I’m fi-’
‘You’ve lost weight’
Himchan notices the slightly older male doesn’t sound too happy. Did Yongguk really pay that much attention to him?
A crackle of static erupts from the security guard’s chest.
‘For crying out loud!’ Exclaims Zico, one of the more brash security guards who works in the control room. ‘Just kiss him already’
The air between them suddenly feels thick with tension and Himchan feels the heat that surges through his body pooling in his face. Yongguk ducks his head, teeth sinking into his lower lip and Himchan can just make out the pink of his cheeks beneath the rim of his cap.
‘I should-’ Himchan’s voice breaks and Yongguk’s hands drop away. He daren’t look at the others though he hears them breathing, hears someone clap a hand over a mouth (probably Jongup’s mouth).
‘Kiss him. Now!’

Himchan is halfway out the door when Yongguk catches him, fingers tight around his wrist.
