After School
“How about this one?”
“Hmm,” eBay pursed her lips, thinking a long moment before shaking her head, “No, I don’t like the black.”
Paypal slipped the shoe off of eBay’s foot, returning it to its box before taking out another in a similar style, but a different color, and held it up for her inspection. She hummed, putting a finger to her lips, before extending her leg. He put it on without a word, and Ebay lifted her foot from his lap to look at the shoe closer.
“Much better,” she smiled, and held out her other foot for the match.
“Ooh, new shoes?” Yelp interjected as she leaned over eBay’s shoulder, looking at the boxes littering the floor around her desk, “…Wait, isn’t Versace spelled with an ‘s’, not a ‘c’?”
“You’re so silly pumpkin,” eBay tittered as she admired her new shoes, “Aren’t they cute?”
“…T-That didn’t answer my question.”
“Hey guys, where’s Wiki?” Xanga poked her head into the classroom, “I have to ask him about…Oh, cool, new shoes!”
“He’s still handing out those ‘personal appeal’ pamphlets,” eBay tossed her hair a bit, “Paypal-baby, where did he say he was headed?”
“Cafeteria,” Paypal replied as he stacked the shoe boxes, “Then the student council room. There’s a meeting today.”
“Oh, right,” she said slowly, remembering, “I’d better go too. They keep me so busy.”
“Thanks!” Xanga waved as she darted off.
“Who was that again?” Yelp tilted her head curiously.
“No clue,” eBay said dismissively.
Paypal stood, the boxes under one arm while he held out the other to help eBay to her feet. She got up with a bounce, instantly latching onto his arm and fitting herself against his side. “Bye-bye pumpkin!” she said cheerfully to Yelp, before Paypal escorted her out.
“How long until the meeting?” eBay asked as they walked.
“About half an hour,” Paypal replied, pulling her closer as he stepped to the side to avoid DeviantArt’s mad dash down the hallway. She threw a quick ‘gomen’ over her shoulder as Flickr skidded around the corner, clutching a handful of photos.
“You stole them again!”
“Kyaa! You’re so scary Flickr-nee-san!”
“You know you’re American-based, you idiot!” Flickr shot back as she continued the pursuit, and the smaller girl only let out a shriek of panic as she ran faster.
“Half an hour…” eBay mused for a moment as they continued walking, “That means MSN is in there.”
Paypal hummed, “Probably Bing too.”
She thought for a long moment as they walked, before she stopped, and Paypal paused in turn. He glanced at her, and she leaned around him to look into the classroom they stopped in front of, and when she saw it was empty, she pulled him inside. She was about to shut the door, but someone pushed it back open with a “Hey!”
“Can I help you sweetie?” eBay turned, but she made a face when she saw who it was. “What do you want Taobao?”
“Stop telling people bad things about me!” Taobao crossed her arms, “You’re my cousin, remember?”
“I just tell them the truth honey cakes,” eBay retorted, “Your dad is the one who didn’t want to go global like mine. I just tell people it’s easier to come to me when they want something than to get charged for a middle man because no one else speaks Chinese.”
Taobao huffed, “Fine, whatever! Hey Paypal,” she looked at the taller boy, “You know, maybe we should have a partnership too.”
“I think I saw some cosplayers on the way to school, why don’t you go try to sell some cheap wigs?” eBay teased, and Taobao rolled her eyes. “Shoo,” she flicked her hand at her cousin, “Shoo, shoo.”
Taobao made a face but left without a word, and eBay closed the door behind her.
She heard Paypal place the boxes down, and she turned, wrapping her arms around his neck and standing on her tiptoes to kiss him. He kissed back, putting one hand on the small of her back and the other on her hair. She pulled away after a moment, their faces still close, and gave him a pouty look.
“You can’t have a deal with Taobao,” she instructed, and Paypal smiled a bit.
“I wasn’t planning on it,” he pat her hair, and she nodded her approval, before kissing him again.
“Good.”
