Way to go, Nurit. carrieann September 16 2003, 11:15:11 UTC
That's an awesome accomplishment and you should feel good. I can't recall a time where I could ever run for very long. Not since I was quite young, anyway. I remember one very specific time in Jr. High PE class where I was the very last person finishing one of our multiple mile timed runs. Everyone else was standing around talking, stretching, goofing off with friends, and I was huffing and puffing, trying to drag myself around the track so I could at least finish. But I remember feeling embarrassed and angry with myself that everyone else, even some of the other less active kids in the class, had finished before me. Part of the difficulty was due to health reasons outside of my control, but I knew the majority of it stemmed from my being overweight and so out of shape ( ... )

Hey :) I'm glad you're getting back into working out and stuff. When I started out 6months a go I was around 210lbs, I'm at 168 right now and the goal is 140-150 depending on how veloptuous I look. Here's what worked for me very well. I signed up at www.fitday.com and kept my calorie intake at around 1600-1800 depending on how much I was working out. I decided to conquer the stair stepper. It is the hardest machine by far, but it is also the one that burns the most calories. I started out not being able to workout on low level for more than 10 minutes, but as time went by I set myself a goal of burning 1000calories in 30-40minutes. That's how much I was burning for several months, and that's what really got me to lose the first 20lbs. After that I ended up going to a different gym that didn't have the same kind of stepper and so my calorie burning went down. But I just can't say enough about how good the stepper is!

Congratulations on your weight loss! That is very inspirational :)

The stair stepper really kicks my toochus!! I went on it for 20 minutes last week and I was dripping in sweat. Which stair stepper was it that you were using? I was on the one that looks like real stairs. I hated it.

The real stairs are really hard and I don't use those (my current gym doesn't have them anyway). I think the one I use is EFX or Precor, one of those that make the eliptical runners. My clothes are always soaked after I get off of the stepper, it's good for ya ;)

Oh man the one that looks like real stairs is not just hard, also if you take too large of steps your feet gets scrunched up by the upcoming stair.
