I think he was just playing with you. He prolly didn't understand why you were staring at a box and not playing with him. I'd keep a squirt bottle (water only, never in the face) nearby for such occasions, or make a loud scary noise.

yeah, if he's a kitten he thinks everything is a play toy, including your hand. squirt bottles are great, also kitten toys to distract him from your hand. as far as outside-ness... make sure he has all his shots before he goes out, like feline leukemia and such, also get him neutered soon, i think 6 months old is the time line for that. best of luck with jackson that lil' saucy one! :D
