TV Meme: doubling it up!
LOL already it's MAJOR FAIL on my part for not keeping up with this. But whatevs: I'll double this up to make up for it --
Merlin, fo'sho'. I could also say Doctor Who for my American buddies, 'cause clearly y'all don't want to be like the rest of the world and watch/adore cheesy sci-fi/fantasy imports. But I'll say Merlin wins out because it had enough buzz to get to NBC primetime before being dropped, HAHA.
But why am I obsessed? Could it be because of terrible (yet AWESOME) CGI effects? Or how about the fact that for the first time ever, I multi-ship for practically the entire pretty pretty cast??
I mean, of course Arthur/Gwen becomes a slight preference in fiction, but I will never turn down Arthur/Merlin moments in canon, and will absolutely express a interest in Uther/Morgana, or embrace Arthur/Gwen/Merlin/Morgana or even an OT5 with Lancelot. And why? BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL SO PRETTY AND ADORABLE.
I could write essays on why I ADORE how they've twisted the legend around: making Merlin Arthur's contemporary? AWESOME EPIC BROMANCE. Making Morgana Uther's ward? GENIUS.
And my favorite: making Guinevere a handmaiden to Morgana. THANK YOU blind casting for introducing me to this ADORABLE mixed girl with FRECKLES and CURLS and...AAHHHHH LOVE LOVE LOVE her. I've read plenty of complaints online about how Guinevere is supposed to be this gorgeous white princess, and damn the retelling, THIS IMAGE SHOULD BE CANON NO MATTER WHAT, ARE YOU BLIND/INSANE ASFDLJDPJCHGNEMWRNMVN----
And to that I say: so you're ok with Merlin being a gangly boy/NOT the OG!Dumbledore, and Arthur still being prince as an adult, and Morgana as Uther's ward, and Lancelot being THIS GORGEOUSLY HOT CHILEAN MAN, and this and that X A MILLION.
/end rant. So yes. I do wish I had people outside of LJ to talk/squee about this, because despite the cheese and the bad CGI and atendencyforcontinuity!FAIL, the ridiculous plots and amazing characters are just WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
Plus...don't you want to see douchey!Giles fall in love with a troll??!
And the show that edges out Merlin by a pigtail or two:
Yes, I finally got hooked on NCIS. Never thought I'd be thankful for unemployment, but MAN, THANK YOU USA for airing random!marathons, because I got ADDICTED. I think I've seen about 75% of the series just based on those marathons. The rest I plan on insta!Netflix-ing, and possibly in chronological order this time around, LOL.
But anyway. Like anyone needs another crime procedural. Many seem plenty satisfied with L&O or CSI, but I could never catch onto them beyond watching for the crazy plots. It was never an issue for me if I missed episodes. But this show? If a marathon's on, I AM GLUED TO MY SCREEN.
I LOVE each and every character and their quirks, and how slowly but surely, little bits and pieces about their private lives become known WITHOUT it turning into a soap opera.
...though I DO wish this Gibbs!drama would stop coming back to bite the poor man in the ass. It IS starting to get a bit old. But whatevs, MARK HARMON YOU CAN DO NO WRONG. ::LICKS::
::cough:: It's also a rare show that I don't fanatically ship. I mean, I do have some preferences, but I won't get pissed off if there aren't moments in canon. I've basically been in full support of every ship that's come on the show (except for Gibbs/Hollis. I dunno, it stopped being cute?), and will probably always multi-ship for it.
So yes. Good for you, NCIS, for being called the #1 drama. And considering how I've now stuck around watching most of your 7 seasons, I think you're my longest-running addiction, LOLZ.
