I think I'm getting screwed at work, and not in the good 'lets duck into the med room and play naughty aide and stern charge nurse' way

LTC is NEVER fair. i found out recently after wondering for months why it seemed like i have all the problem behaviors on my hall that they do it ON PURPOSE because " we get complaints on the other rehab hall." um, so fix or fire the staff who generate complaints, don't punish the good staff!! -___-
You hit the nail on the head. Over a year ago I was the second nurse for our step down resp. floor. It was a pretty sweet job. Half the patients, report, tx's ect. Unfortunately, one of our third floor nurses passed away and a new hire got sent there. He could not handle the floor so they put me to the third floor (mostly mild dementia/ltc and took the full floor 40 patients) and he got my nice sweet half ass floor. Their response was, "You are a much stronger nurse. You should have your own full floor."
a case of pat you on the back while kick you in the ass.
You know, I have been hearing the word 'stronger' and 'weaker' being used at work lately.
Sounds like Orwellian newspeak.
"strong" nurse, to me, means that when they call I Code Strong I'm the only one big enough to choke out a combative patient (or occassionaly dislocate thei shoulder).
t's not strong and weal. Its competent and incompetent and I feel like I'm getting the short end of the stick because I am somewhat more competent than the new hires.
