In 1997 Bas Luhrmann gave a graduation speech. Later, someone set it to music and he did the narration. On my walk this morning I played it on the ipod and started to cry. Maybe I'm emotionally imbalanced, but the speech truly hit home. Listen to it ( Read more... )

It is a piece of work. Not originally by Baz Luhrmann though, not even originally by Kurt Vonnegut who it was originally attributed to when it spread around the Internet back then.

I'm sure I've heard that speech before, I really like it.
I like things that make me wanna go live harder and better and just love life and be awesome....

I think ice cream is one of those things.

Baz Luhrmann is a nutjob, but his movies are great.

PS- you don't know me, but I'm Allyson/Tom/Andrew/other Andrew/everyone else's friend from AZ. I see you comment on everyone's LJ's all the time, and you seem cool, so I read yours. Which you probably find creepy. Yeah. Awkward.
