Great work. linstock June 11 2011, 07:45:08 UTC
These are wonderful. I so admire people who can draw. I especially like Spock Primes' hand and Jim's skin in the top one. The style of lettering is great too .

The second has a real feel of movement and in Chekov's figure and Sulu seems to be weighting events. The slight bluish cast in Chekov's feature balances the strong blue background in the top right. The placement of the black on Sulu's hair, the back ground and the necklines also provides unity to the composition.

Oh my! What an AWESOME comment to wake up to. It's always such a treat to receive such specific feedback - it's rare and highly treasured! By chance are you an artist too?

A novice one (visit my LJ or deviant art page under Linstock). I am interested in design and composition. I could have gone on more but then I start to feel pretentious! I just try to give useful and comments out of respect for the work people put in...in short I am strange.

LOL - you are not strange - just kind and thoughtful. All feedback is appreciated, but it's just really nice to hear from other artists, whether it's praise or a critique, about elements of the composition, you know?

I'm going to visit your LJ and do some art appreciation of my own! : )

Thank you so much! They were a joy to draw! These are done in chalk pastel. That's my very favorite medium and carbon pencils are my second.

I love traditional artists! Chalk is awesome!

I use mostly watercolors, and pen/india ink myself.

Here's to us dinosaurs! We traditional artists are sort of a dying breed - at least I've found that to be the case in most of the fandoms I'm involved with. : )
LOL - most of us are self-taught too and I can only DREAM of one day trying some of those new computer generated techniques. Sigh...I'm not computer savvy that way.

OMG I had COMPLETELY forgotten what I'd requested and these are absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

The first really gives me a feeling of Jim relaxing back into Spock's embrace as Spock whispers sweet nothings to him. and the star boarder just adds to that togetherness int eh vastness of space. Everything out there, and they found eachother across universes, space and time. Simply beautiful.

I LOVE the motion and the feelings you captured in the second one. Chekov, the adorable, little Russian kid (who's actually a GENIUS) checking something, calling back instructions to Sulu who's listening, ready to jump to action however his navigator instructs him to. It's just a really cool image. Again. Love the both of them to pieces ^.^ Thank you so much.
