Trust the ring insert. Pharmacists and doctors sometimes give time frames that are longer than necessary to make sure you're doing everything right, as a "just in case" or "cover your ass" measure. I've had doctors tell me more than 7 days too. But if you started the ring on day one of your period, and the insert says you're protected on day one, you're fine.

I don't know anything about the phone number, sorry!
