The air is really heavy here with responsibility, isn't it? Laura's feelings of responsibility toward humanity, Bill's toward his people, Tigh's to manage the admiral's time and worry, the crew's responsibility toward their jobs. Laura may only be a visitor to CiC, but she's right at home in spirit.

Your comment hit all the points I was hoping to convey, I'm so glad that heavy atmosphere came across.

Thank you!

Great and poignant scene. So many little moments in this scene. Laura's hope for all of them, her being less of a participant due to her illness and of course her love and respect for Bill and the job he does. Wonderful work. I really liked this piece!!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked this and that all the different elements came through for you. It's a melancholy bit but I also wanted the subtext that the relationship between Bill & Laura is at its strongest and everyone knows it :)

A few members of the crew have acknowledged, then promptly ignored her presence as they go about their duties.
;_; poor laura!
The President has become a more frequent visitor to the command center in recent months.
=) is she bringing him his bento at work? XD
i lve that she goes to CIC to see him every now and then ♥
Bill will come home when his pilots are safe.
HOME! ♥

this drabble is so sweet ♥ why do i feel it's mostly sad? =( i love it =) ♥

HAHA Something like that! Exactly what I was going for - the crew ignores her because she's become a regular fixture, coming to pick up her man from work!

why do i feel it's mostly sad?
It is sad, in a way. The weariness they all feel at this point, the beginning of her downward spiral from the cancer, the fact that they're finally realizing they're in love so close to the end...but at least they have HOME :)

Oh, I agree with all these great comments. I loved "her Admiral." As a shipper, it is hard for me to see Bill leave her side in the last few episodes when she has so little time left but I know that Laura would never want him to neglect his command--it too tightly embedded in all she loves about him.

Don't we all just want the two of them to run away together and forget the fleet and all it's drama?!!! hehe

Thank goodness Bill & Laura had more sense then us a/r shippers :) At least they still managed to live a little for us (and the rest we take care of in fanfiction!)

If CIC is the physical heart of Galactica, Bill is clearly her emotional heart, carrying the burden of responsibility not only for the souls she shelters within her bulkheads but for the entire Fleet she protects. There's a clear sense of that crushing weight of care here - a burden Laura well understands - as well as a sense of Laura's desperation to find some happy resolution to their plight before they all break under the strain ( ... )

Thank you for this thoughtful comment that draws out so many of the things I was thinking of while writing it.

I'm a wee bit jealous that even your comments are this beautifully written! It can almost be a drabble in and of itself!
