Laura inched her hand back to Bill’s and tightly entwined her trembling fingers in his large hand.

Everyone seems to see this as so sweet, which I guess it is a bit, but I was sort of going for some sniffles. Glad I got at least a few (though I do apologize for it at the same time!)

Thank you, I wanted to show some of the pain that comes with cancer (not that Mary didn't give us an achingly realistic depiction of that already). But also to highlight, along with it, the importance of Bill being by her side. Even when we're in tremendous pain, there's usually *hopefully* at least one person we still want close, whose comfort is more important than any pain.
