i think it should be "cannot" spell check probally won't catch that

You're not supposed to use contractions or conjunctions in a professional paper.

I agree with the argument. It is insane to sue someone for so much and yet they somehow have the power to.

The only thing I would change is 'nowadays' in the introduction. I was always taught it was a cliche or bad term or something. You could probably substitute "today" in for it.
