I know most, if not all of you, would have voted against Prop 8 in California, but this is worth watching even if you agree with the message.

Keith Olbermann is the man.

*sigh*

I can't believe in this day and age, when so much has been accomplished, with how far we've come, and how hard we've worked, that gay marriage and human rights are even debatable issues anymore. It makes my heart hurt.

You can thank religion for this one. Mormons and Christians, specifically.

Ironically the surge in black votes caused it to pass 52-48. The ones who helped Obama win caused prop 8 to pass.

I find it hard to believe that you're seriously suggesting this as a solution. Not only is it more complicated (marriage is ingrained in the culture, marriage is a sign of legitimacy of any long-lasting relationship, marriage is an important facet of religion, etc.) than legalizing same-sex unions, but you seem to be suggesting that couples lose out on tax benefits, inheritances, and the myriad benefits granted by government-recognized marriage.

Unless you're espousing "civil unions," which doesn't help the issue at all because that's what the issue is: legality of civil unions for homosexuals.

Libertarian view. I think this may be true because it ties religion to the government which is the main reason gay people cannot get married.
