Warnings: Death
Effects: [optional] Feelings of betrayal, determination, sadness

"Let's get out of here."

It’s over now. Lara slowly stands up, smiling slightly, still tasting Terry's lips on hers. But her smile falters as she watches him move to the box, starting so slip it in a black bag.
"What are you doing Terry?"

"You're joking, right? This is ours!"

Her breathing fastens, disbelief coursing through her veins. 'Please, not again' is all she can think now.

"You're not walking out of here with that box."
"What are you saying? We're just going to leave it here? It could be worth millions!"
"It could kill millions of innocent people."
"Now you’re being dramatic," the man says, sarcasm dripping all over his tone.
"Put it back."
"NO!"

Terry's yell echoes through the rocky caves and Lara swallows her emotions, straightening her back, her chin tilting up. She moves to block the passageway to the exit from him and he walks back up to her. They both glare at each other for a moment, before Terry smirks lightly:

"So it has come to this? You better move away, because if you stand here, it will be enough."

The slap comes as a surprise and Lara is thrown to the ground from the sheer strength of it. She moans painfully, tasting the iron from her blood in her mouth. Still, despite her head swimming with the blow, she stands up again, resolved to stop the man from walking out of the Cradle of Life with the box.

"You don't have in it to stop me. See, all your beliefs, all your ideals, they're not real. I am. And you’ve loved me. I don't know how strong you think you are, but you are not going to choose them over me."

Terry's words sinks into her heart like a knife into butter. She's told him before that she would be able to kill him, would he betray her again. But now faced with that decision, she's not sure she truly can. The desperation gripping her heart almost makes her whimper; it hurts even more than any wounds she's ever sustained.

"Now move."
"No."

Her answer comes out so weakly that it wouldn't have be heard if they had not stand in front of each other. Lara can feel the tears threatening to swell into her eyes and she gives Terry one last pleading look, one that asks for him to choose her over the money and the fame. But his own gaze steels and she sees him reach behind his back for his gun.

"Then..."

The gunshot resonates through the caves. Lara has heard that sound millions of times now, but this time, she cannot help herself and winces at it. She swallows slowly, her green eyes still locked onto Terry's. His become unseeing and he slowly sinks to his knees, ripping her heart at the same time. The young woman lets out the breath she had no idea she had been holding, her gaze keeping away from the dying man at her feet. Her vision blurs slowly, tears finally pooling in her eyes. The world is safe again, but it has come to the price of her own heart.

[The Dreamberry screen shows the ceiling for a moment, before a soft sigh can be heard. There's then the ruffle of fabric before the device is thrown away, the video feed blurring at its moved around. When it finally stops, it slips on the floor and the image of Lara overlooking her estate from her balcony. She's wrapped in the white sheet of her bed, in a way that hides what needs to be hidden, but barely, her back almost completely exposed. She doesn't seem to care for her state of undressing nor notices that her Dreamberry is on.]
