Oh, wow! I like the angst mixed in with the fluff.

Poor Clark! I can understand his thinking here every step of the way. Bruce distrusting him and calling him 'alien' at first would hurt him, and then his read of Bruce's personality would just naturally lead to figuring that he was just a way station for Bruce and eventually break-up was inevitable.

It's the alien thing. The poor guy figures he's just too different to fit in. That's true to some extent but not completely.

And it was woobie for him to be so cautious, never asking but observing that since Bruce was keeping personal things at his apartment, he could keep a few things at the Manor. Trying hard to etch everything into his memory against the day when Bruce broke things off. Awww! :)

And Bruce was courting Clark with the dates and everything but of course couldn't say what he felt ( ... )

Yeah, I figure a guy who spent his childhood hiding his strength and his adolescence hiding his new abilities is not going to feel comfortable dating anyone, much less someone he adores as much as he does Bruce.

And Bruce was courting Clark with the dates and everything but of course couldn't say what he felt!

Plus Clark is so convinced that falling in love with him leads to disaster that a brass band wouldn't register. Though Bruce comes in for a share of the blame. *bats Bruce with wet noodle*

*passes around kleenex*

And Lex could be an interesting player in the future if he realizes that Bruce is now ( ... )

As Clark says, he was raised to be honest but had to lie all the time. And I don't blame him for it, because it protected him and his parents (can you imagine what would have happened if Clark's powers had been exposed to the world while he was still so young?) but it sure made things difficult for him, poor baby.

True! First we have Clark who's had adorations of millions but they don't really know him, and he's been vilified for being an alien (which Bruce contributed to, a xenophobic attitude which always ( ... )

He'd have been a total mess if he'd been discovered as a kid. /shudders. Growing up hiding created some complexes, but he'd have either ended up the equivalent of most child stars or a slave. Probably the latter.

True! First we have Clark who's had adorations of millions but they don't really know him, and he's been vilified for being an alien (which Bruce contributed to, a xenophobic attitude which always bothers me when the comics make an issue out of it) so he doesn't think people will want him, silly boy. :)

And Bruce being so sucky at relationships couldn't bring himself to be direct. I'd call it Batdickery but he wasn't being deliberately cruel, just dumb. :)You're so right. Clark has the not uncommon (and hardly ( ... )

That was brilliant!
Though the encounter with Lex was painful to read but that's because I still have a soft spot for him.

I hope you write more of this :)

So does Clark, but not when he's trying not to start sobbing.

There's more coming from Bruce's POV. And probably more after that.

I love this! I love how insecure Clark is and how hopeless Bruce is when it comes to his supposedly brilliant plan where "nudity kept happening." That, right there, is why I really loved this fic, though, because it was so freaking funny!

>>Clearly he needed a better list.

LOL

>>Sometimes being responsible sucked like a porn star.

I seriously laughed my ass off with the porn star line. They're both so adorable, with their little superhero hormones getting in the way, and Bruce's abysmal execution of his plans, and Clark's complete and utter obliviousness. Love, love, love this fic!

I swear I heard Bruce say that in my head and started giggling. In public. On the metro.

I can't recall when I first heard or read the porn star line-- I don't think it's original. However, the few people who've heard me say it fell apart laughing, so it had to go in.

Bruce is trying so hard with his plan, and poor Clark is totally missing all the clues. I'd have hit him with the cluebat if he wasn't so miserable.

Thank you so much for commenting. This is my first fic in forever, my first fic in S/B and I'm so relieved that people like it.

This was very good! I was really sorry for Clark. I hate that he thinks so poorly of himself sometimes when he's such an amazing person (he's more human to me than any other human being, abilities and all)I'm glad Bruce was kind and caring to him at the end, when he explained things.

I look forward to the sequel and to other fics you write in this universe.

Aw, I'm glad you liked it. I was feeling seriously sorry for Clark here too. The angst sort of swallowed the fic this time. Bruce's POV is underway and will be less angsty.

Plus, I think I'm going to need a follow-up to these two, and there's another one lurking around my synapses, and...I think I'm addicted.

I loved this story!

The love triangle element just added to it, as if Lex being hateful toward Bruce was meant to hurt Clark more than it had ever hurt Bruce.

Clark's defense of Bruce, even despite his fear that it might be the expense of Bruce's good opinion of him was wonderful and sweet.

And I LOVED how Clark compared Bruce's choices to Lex's...

“As for your other activities, you took a tragedy and turned it into a gift for other innocents. He took his problems and made them an excuse."

Beautiful is exactly why Bruce is such a wonderful person, even though he doesn't always know how to show his love....

*hugs Bruce*

I love your Bruce, planning his conquest of Clark like a battle or a hostile take-over instead of a romance, and Clark feeling so insecure about his position within Bruce's heart...

Silly boys.

I love them both, so adorbable. Thank you for writing such a wonderfully sweet and romantic story.

That was such a squishy moment for me. I think anything Smallville will have a bit of the love triangle element in it. And yes, there's more coming. Bruce is getting his say written now, plus I think I'm going to have to do a follow up.

I kept wanting to pet Clark during this. Poor woobie. Bruce nearly got hit with a shoe for being a dolt. In fact, I distinctly recall informing him that love doesn't require a business plan and an outline. Fortunately, I was alone at the time.;)

Triangles are wonderful, playing two billionaires against Clark...

Poor woobie getting caught in the middle.

*grins*

And I am glad more will follow!

Yeah, and both Bruce and Lex play dirty!

Bruce is currently informing me that he didn't mean to hurt Clark and would I hurry up and write his part before everyone decides he's a clueless moron?
