I know Chris Paul will get Rookie of the Year. I would be surprised if David West didn't get most improved. Speedy Claxton's got a great chance at 6th Man. But I don't think Byron Scott will get COTY. That virtually always goes to the coach of the team that has the most wins for the season, which definitely won't be our Hornets. While he definitely deserves a LOT of credit for turning the team around this season, he WAS the coach there last year when they had their worst season ever and I think a lot of people will look at that as a detractor when it comes time for the voting. But no one would be happier than me to see it happen!!

Just wondering if your thoughts about Byron Scott's chances had changed at all. When this article was published, I was of the same thought as you -- that Coach Scott was kind of a long shot for the award. But the team has gone 7-2 since your reply. And they are now the 6th seed in the Western Conference (above Memphis and LA). I'm thinking he might be in the thick of the race.

If they make the playoffs, then I would say it's a sure thing.

That's kinda what I'm figuring as well. Fingers crossed for tomorrow night against the Wizards.
