Okay, so I went to "Real World Photography" tonight and I had my artist statement, but it was terrible... I choose to write it on my portraits, and I didn't really think it out enough. The whole thing made me realize how much the whole portraiture thing is not what I should have wrote my artist statement about. This whole class made my head hurt

Thats much better! And it's not that your original statement was "terrible" as u say, it just was'nt right for your statement. Give yourself more credit!

whats going on in your head is fascinating! i thoroughly enjoyed reading this statement-from-the-heart and i wouldnt tweak it too much. and youre right! what a reflective day! (and im not talking about of an artificial body - hehe)
