Bats from my world use a form of echolocation to navigate. Perhaps the bats here use a similar method.

Echolocation? What does that mean?

It's when an animal releases a noise of a certain frequency, and when the noise bounces off of nearby objects and returns to them, they are able to use the sound waves to determine where these objects are and avoid them as necessary.
