I am for fandom. If I wasn't why would I be involved in it, not to mention taking a university class revolving around it? But I feel like playing devil's advocate.

Catching up on a series/following a series that has stopped in English is my biggest motivation for reading scanlations. But I've found that I've been reading scans less and less lately. I think its because I'm stalking various people in publishing industry, so I feel close to it and feel extra guilty when I read series illegally online.

I'm also lucky enough to be able to afford manga most of the time. If I didn't have the money, I'd definitely read online a lot more... so I guess I'm speaking from a sort of privileged position. :/

I didn't know some stores were shrinkwrapping manga. Interesting development. Can't blame them, brick & mortar bookstores are having a rough time with all the e-books nowadays.
