Ddddddderp posting about a thing I did after doing it, which is something I
NEVER
DO
But I just got back from Anime Expo and Disneyland and feel like rambling about it.
Anime Expo was... good? I mean it wasn't bad by any means, but I wasn't particularly happy with how all of my costumes turned out (especially Yorda aguuhghhhhh) and since I go to cons primarily for cosplay, that takes a lot of the fun out of it. But the dealers' room/artists' alley was fantastic!! It was so huge that I was able to look around all 4 days and not get bored. I even bought stuff, which I don't usually do since really I have no use for anime merchandise (and the only series..es I'm really into right now are super obscure). But I got an Animal Crossing stuffed animal thing of Stitches the bear, which now lives on my purse. I didn't realize he made noise until after I bought him! He says a bunch of sound effects from the game 8D
Also I got a Chris Sanders print! Apparently a girl he does collaborations with (he draws, she colors) sells their prints at cons, and she had a bunch of pictures I recognized from stalking his deviantART. She said he'd be there selling them at SDCC, which made me SO SAD I don't get to go. Seriously, the whole con would be worth it just to meet Chris Sanders. Baaaaaahhh but it's on really nice paper and was only $20 o3o
Someone had these giant, super amazing Shadow of the Colossus prints that Sandra and I really wanted, but they were $50 which...is more than I'd pay for any poster, no matter how epic it looks.
ANYWAY DISNEYLAND FUCK YEAHHHHHHHHHHH
My family always goes for a week, so before we went I was like "aaaah how are we POSSIBLY going to fit everything into a daaaaayyy" but after this I can't for the life of me figure out how it takes us a week. I guess the difference is that we usually leave by dinnertime, and also go to California Adventure.
I can honestly say that the day at Disneyland is one of the best days of my life. It wasn't like any one huge OHMANAMAZING thing happened (well...I mean Disneyland), it was just constant happiness and exciting things with people who are a ton of fun to hang out with. We got there at like...10? and stayed until it closed at midnight, and we got to go on just about every ride (short of a few dinky Fantasyland rides and the stupid Finding Nemo submarine), eat just about EVERY FOOD, and still have time to go on the Matterhorn twice (it gets faster after 10pm, apparently! It was funnn), go on Indiana Jones twice, see the fireworks show, and see Fantasmick. AHHHHH WHAT A GREAT DAY.
OH ALSO WE SAW X JAPAN LIVE???? Yeah we weren't really...expecting that, though it seems everyone else who went to the event was. We knew we (now "we" is Sandra and I, btw) were going to some sort of event for the Yoshiki Foundation, and we knew that there was going to be a PV filming after it ended involving the winner of a fashion contest, and during the event someone mentioned there would be a "small musical performance". So I was like, okay, Yoshiki will probably play some drums for us or whatever and then whoever won the contest will go film something somewhere.
LOL NO X JAPAN CAME OUT AND PLAYED FOR US
I still don't know what the winner of the contest will be doing in the new PV, but they were also getting some live performance shots for the PV, so they played their new song "Born to be Free" like...4 times in a row. It's a PRETTY SWEET SONG everyone and you should CHECK IT OUT and look for my sweet zebra jacket in the audience. They also played IV and X. Secretly I wish they'd played Dahlia or Drain but really, I GOT TO SEE X JAPAN. FOR FREE. UP CLOSE. I AM PERFECTLY SATISFIED.
