I dragged myself to work Monday and Tuesday, infecting the office quite thoroughly. Despite having masses of work that need to get done, I just couldn't make myself go today. I feel somewhat weak for having been brought down by a stupid cold-thing, but I don't think I could have managed to drive today. And without my usual early-on day-off to sleep and eat, I'm not getting any better.

Now I worry that even with the day off, and sleeping in, I'm not going to get much better because I'm so stressed about not being at work and getting all the tons of things I need to get done, done!

My general rule of thumb has become: If I feel guilty for staying home, I am actually sick.

When I am just skiving off, I call in with a VERY sincere Sick Voice, and then proceed to go, "WOO HOO!" and head off to the mountains/beach/concert/drinking binge with a clear conscience.

When I am actually sick, I feel guilty. Go figure.
