Seriously, wtf is going on with the Giants? (And nice that the picture is out to boot though at this point, maybe it's a good thing.)

I think they have essentially the same payroll (and salary cap) they had when they went all the way.

The offense is underacheiving a bit, but that's not the real problem. Basically, the secondary is very weak due to injuries, and the pass rush hasn't lived up to it's reputation enough to cover for it.

There are 31 other teams in the NFL, and none of them saw fit to give Amani Toomer a job, so I'm not sure he'd be such a valuable asset. I can see the argument for Ward, but he and Jacobs were both free agents, and the team had to keep only one of them. Given that Ward and Bradshaw are similar players, I think the decision they made made sense, although Jacobs is not currently playing well. I don't have a problem with the money they gave Eli - he has been a Super Bowl MVP, and is in the prime of his career, and you pay guys like that. And I was perfectly happy with the offense until the last two games, which have not been good. But two games isn't so many. Unlike you, I do not forsee the team turning into the Detroit Lions the rest of the season.

The loss of Kenny Phillips is really hurting our defense.

I'm thinking that the receivers are the biggest problems. What's stuck out to me these past few weeks is how often Eli is forced to throw into tight coverage. No YAC. He usually completes those throws, but the receivers should do a better job getting open.

Not to mention Hicks and Smith dropping balls. They seem to be forgetting that if they can get their hands on it, they must bring it in.

And our pass D is atrocious.

There is NO secondary. None. That's it.

I agree, and it's making the rest of the defense look bad.

On offense, while both Eli and the receivers are missing opportunities in the passing game, the problem seems that we are not committing to the run. We're passing on third and short?!?! That's not Giants football.
