Murphy's Law of electronics

Your favorite electronics, the ones that you use every day, will only fail and cease to function at a time when you absolutely cannot afford to replace/repair it.

What piece of electronics died? I have numerous gizmos and gadgets that might suit secondhand, and I work at a store where I can watch for deals for ya...

My ipod has been acting a bit squirrley for the past few months, and today it finally gave up and started showing the Sad Ipod Face. I'm going to take some time tomorrow, when I'm at home for a bit, and see if I can get the silly thing to re-set. I have a suspicion that its a hardware problem, though, so I may just be SOL.

If it's a fourth generation iPod they will tell you to "hit it on something". I'm not shitting you. Mine makes these grinding sounds and that's the official Apple solution I got at the store. I asked why they made crap in the first place. Now, it doesn't work at all, even when i hit it on my mouse pad. Stupid dummies....

If you do go looking for a replacement, may I recommend the Sansa Fuze (http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1256)-SanDisk_Sansa_Fuze.aspx). SanDisk makes a decent line of mp3 players (Clip, Fuze, View) that have very similar functionality to the iPods, plus an FM tuner, but for about half of the price. I really like these players, and hope to replace my own mp3 player with a Fuze at Christmas ( ... )
