Air Force Bans Salvia Divinorum

'Officials at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., are sending thoughts of a "legal high" up in smoke. Both have banned the use of Salvia divinorum, a hallucinogenic plant better known as salvia.

"According to Lt. Col. (Dr.) James Bennion at Hill, salvia’s effects can be categorized into six levels. The first level involves an increase in relaxation and peacefulness, while the highest level can involve sleepwalking-type behavior, an inability to sense pain and later an inability to remember what has happened."

You'd think they'd find a way to use that forgetfulness bit to prevent PTSD... if the troops can't remember what happened, they can't get stressed out about it... maybe then they'd have a fighting chance of being able to function in "normal" society after three or four tours in Baghdad.

Stupid gov't... can't even see efficiency and kindness when it's trying to bite them in the ass...

They seem to overlook (be ignorant of?) the principal effect of salvia, which is a profound awareness of a sacred dimension and a sense of responsibility towards our higher selves. No wonder they don't want anything to do with it in the military.
