This is spring?

I’ve been sick for a month. Ugh. Every time I think I am feeling better, I relapse. My co-workers thought I was on a diet, I have lost that much weight. It started with a GI upset, which is probably my Crohn’s acting up. I went to see the GI doctor, and she wants to do tests of course. One of them is a colonoscopy, which she wants to do herself at ( Read more... )

Oh no, I'm sorry you're poorly - and even more so that you can't see how to get the tests you need... I'm single and live on my own and have no family nearby too, and dread getting severely sick... Does the hospital know your situation? Surely they have some way for people who don't have someone-to-drive-them-home to get the medical attention they need? We don't all have people around who're able to fetch and carry us when we need them to...

Even more so, though, I hope you'll feel better soon!

The dr's assistant knows my situation. The dr herself has too many patients to worry/care about the circumstances of each one. I'm a new patient to her service. I'm still working out a way to get it done. I think I am starting to feel somewhat better. Having no appetite and not being able to keep anything in is making it hard though. Thanks for the kind thoughts!

Oh no! And that's really adding insult to injury to have heavy snow this late as well! (We are in a moderate drought. Our snow was paltry this year--it all went to you all in the east.)

I hope you're able to fully rest this weekend and get on the road to good health...and real spring!

I worry about the colonoscopy, too. I have my brother who can drive me, but the prep, combined with needing to take the dog out all the time, rather than just opening a door for her... I put it off completely while I was dealing with Rikki's issues. I expect I will take care of it this year, but...not just yet. Good luck with everything!

I've had enough scopes over the years that they are no big deal to me anymore. I agree the prep is awful. Honestly, unless there is a history of intestinal disease or colon cancer in yourself or your family, not everyone needs to have a scope after a certain age. Despite what they tell you. I don't blame you for putting it off. I hate when medicine tries to scare people into unnecessary tests.
