Yes, It's Been That Kind of a Week....

This Monday, we had a booked performer not show up for a children's program, due to some sort of scheduling mix-up. I tell you, it is not fun to deal with angry parents, including some who accosted me because I called them late last week (as instructed by my boss) to remind them about the program (we were taking registration). I hate it when people feel that venting their own feelings all over some blameless employee is appropriate. Some people suck. :(

Blarg. That is no fun at all. I hope that's it for mishaps this month. You're right to remember that it's not your fault -- for the mix-ups OR that some people are misdirecting their disappointment at you.

At that point, when such a mistake is made, all you do is do what you do when you did what you did, you know? Those chicks should chill, man, everyone makes mistakes! I understand it's difficult for some folks to get around, but gosh, Do Unto Others.

Years ago, I worked at an easy listening station in my heavily Catholic hometown. Every evening at 6 PM, we'd switch the station over to a feed of someone reading the Rosary for an hour. I forgot to flip the switch a few times, and some older woman would call up saying, "Turn on the goddamn Rosary!!"
