A couple of weeks ago, I went in to see my doctor for a check-up. I knew that I was way overweight, that my health was far from where it should be, but I didn't know what areas (other than weight-loss, obviously) that I should work on first. Dave's decided to start a food blog, but I don't know that much of it will be healthy/low-calorie. I'll keep an eye out, though.
At some point I should get my thyroid checked, because my mom has thyroid problems and I've shown some symptoms that could be related, but I'm trying to avoid the doctor until I switch insurance companies. Good for you for going in and figuring things out!

Ooh, I'd love to see his blog. I love the cook, always looking for new recipes. Even if they aren't healthy/low cal it may give me an idea for things I might like to play with. I'm going to try to post any recipes that I try that are healthy (or healthIER) here.
Making myself go to the doctor was hard. I felt sick the day before going in to talk to him, before going in for the bloodwork, and before going back to talk to him about the bloodwork, it stressed me out that much. I'm really trying to get on track, though, so it had to be done.

I think exercise + a healthy diet really work wonders, even if you start small. Build it up to something more as you go along. I'm currently going to the gym twice a week, and watching my diet (tried going vegetarian, but failed after a day, so I'm doing a vegetarian lunch and less-meat-more-veg for dinner thing). And when I cook/heat up left overs at home, I tend to throw in some extra greens (cabbages, spinach, carrots - whatever's available), just so that I know that I'm eating a bit healthier!
