Carrot Soup - Meh

I made carrot soup in the crock pot using a recipe created by a blogger. It was extremely simple, carrots, curry, ginger, broth, and then milk added in the end. I added some chopped celery and red onion because I had them & they needed to be used up or pitched. The end result was very bland. Did you use powdered ginger or fresh? Because that can make a huge difference. Also, curry (the powder) is lame and useless. I generally add more (fresh) ginger than the recipe calls for, and add some extra spices like coriander root, cumin, cardamon, paprika, chili powder etc. But then I like spicy food :)

I used fresh ginger and added a shake of hot pepper flakes. After letting it sit overnight in the fridge, it tasted better, just not as good as it smelled while cooking.

I like spicy food, also, but in the States that usually translates to hot peppers, which I can only take so much of.
