This morning changed me. I no longer want to let by gones be by gones. The more i think on how alex's bike was stolen. The amoint of force needed to sheer two bolts on my garage door track leads me to believe that the guys who took his bike were meth users dope fiends or other. I no longer care if the person using drugs has family friends their own

Of course nothing I can say can change how you feel, and the way you feel is totally understandable. But do you really want to teach Alex that violence is the best way to deal with his anger and take care of himself, and that you should hang onto emotional wounds and let them make you feel unsafe and break your heart and mar your whole life?

Like I said, I completely understand your anger wrath, especially given that your son's happiness and safety is involved, but I would love to see this turn into a teachable moment for you and Alex. You're doing everything you can to make sure yourselves and your posessions are safe from now on - I assume as well as the metal bar and the bolts and all, you've reported it to the police? - and I know that's what you really want to teach him, how to take care of yourself and your loved ones without renting out space in your head to the assholes of the world, and/or letting them crap on your happiness

Ann makes a very good point here. I understand your rage - hell, someone not only broke into your home, but went out of their way to do it! - but how you handle this now will leave a definite impression on Alex. Of course you'd want to go all Terminator on these people, but the best thing you can do is feel the anger, let Alex know it's OK to get angry, then cover your ass by making the place more secure and them move on when you're able. Whether or not these thieves are drug addicts is irrelevant. But don't give them any more power by letting yourself get paranoid and teaching Alex that he has to be paranoid.

That being said, I'm sorry these fuckers got in there, took something away from Alex, and upset the apple cart over there. Is your neighbourhood generally a safe one or is it sort of skank? I can totally understand why you'd want to get out of Merced - in fact, I encourage it!

i have made arrangements to buy a shotgun already paid for. and am making the garage secure. Besides I am also cleanig garage and maing it liveable for me ot be out there and if need be take some down time in there during winter. its already done and let the bastards know that i mean business its too late for me my friend i lost faith in humanity .. keep yours while you can.

Having a space for down time is good. I recall you were planning that already. Just don't go all vigilante...I don't wanna have to send Christmas cards to a jail. :) Besides, since your place has already been hit by these people, what are the odds they'll hit it again? (Unless you live in Watts or someplace...)

My faith in humanity has certainly gone back and forth over the years. Yours is going to be understandably low for a while. But it bounces back eventually.

Oh i dont know holidays are pretty good. and twice withing three months? good enough what is to stop a junkie from thinking like this" oh well < i will steal this bike because this guy will buy him another one and replace it quickly. then later see what he got him and make plans to hit it again. " seriously people on drugs...seriously dont need a chance. never again. and if you send a card, it will never reach where is will go if that happens. I have had it. even though alex has a good bike from friends building it. I am still pissed off.
