In General:
In general, I felt like everything was relatively satisfactory. Rehearsals, while time consuming, was no more than expected, and quite a bit of fun. Specifically for rehearsals however, I would have liked a better chance to get to know the rest of the cast a little better as people. While I understand this may not be the most important aspect of the faire, I also have to admit that I didn't finish learning everyone's actual name until the faire went up. In addition to this, I also found that while most of the cast knew each other...I did not. As a result of this, I had no idea who the characters were (other than the obvious King Arthur, Lancelot, Guenevere) or how they fit into the storyline (Case in point: Squire Gorlagen..dude..who IS he????? Something about a wolf...somehow he's important...I know he's Dame Dindraine's squire...that's it). Coming in with a little bit more of a background on this would have been a little more helpful to me when it came down to interactions. On the subject of interactions, it would also have been nice to have time to interact with everyone in the cast during rehearsal, not just the same people over and over again. I know for myself, during the faire days most of my interactions happened with the peasantry, which were completely improv, for I never had a chance to interact with them in rehearsal. I understand as the Herald, I was in court, but as the lowest of the court, I never interacted with nobles other than bowing and scraping. Not a very exciting faire day. Granted, the interactions that popped up in the days were great, and improving them became a fun exercise...a little more time would have been nice though. I liked a lot of the exercises we did in rehearsals. Alot of the improvisational ones were my favorite. Since admittedly, that's most of what happens at the faire...we should do a few more of those.
Music:
I wasn't very involved in the music...the finale music was great though. I find Wild Mountain Thyme getting stuck in my head all the time now....
Fights:
They looked really great!
Costuming:
I would have liked a belt...other than that, no gripes.
Scripts:
Scripts were great! The stories in them really came to life. Of course due to the actors, but due to the scripts themselves! Well done. I LOVED the script for Court. I've patroned at faires a few times before...and fallen asleep at court most of those times. No one did that here. I don't think it takes much guess work to figure out why.
Street Work:
I wasn't really involved in the street plot, though I had tons of fun on the street. I'm not sure you can ever really be "prepared" to start the faire out on the street. It's more of something you ease into...or just adjust to. The first day was rocky for me...by the time the larger crowds had started to show up, I was comfortable interacting with patrons and others.
Greenroom:
Okay so this is probably going to sound pretty ungrateful...but the green room was sort a rough thing for me. Yes, there was food I'm told *in theory*. There were days that the food was put away...there were days when they told me it would be ready in an hour...when I was on my way to the chess match starving. There were days I bought food because I didn't have time to wait for it. This made me pretty mad, and I know I wasn't the only one with this problem. Running the day on water and an apple..pretty uncool. When there was food, it was very tasty...except for the chili with ingredients of unknown origin that one day...but the rest of it tasted good. Maybe a little more frequently, and it would have been sublime.
This is mostly for you Bonnie, if you could send it to the necessary powers that be...I don't have the contact info necessary (which is totally my own fault...I apologize for that)That said, anyone actually curious enough to read it...feel free.
