I'd forgotten how nice it is to have the windows open. I was sitting at my desk the other day (writing a POEM, of all things), listening to my Queen, with this nice breeze blowing through. It was...I don't know, just enjoyable. I don't quite know why I bothered writing this...but I guess I'd say open your windows once in a while. Open them ( Read more... )

writing poems is actually a really fun. I've written a poem and 2 songs here at GSE, and I never knew I could do that before. Yay for Governor's School creativity!

the thing is that humans are the only species that are intelligent enough to have the desire to play god, ie through changing the environment to suit themselves, instead of changing themselves to adapt to the environment. We create, in order to satisfy ourselves. We play gods on earth by creating medicines and birth control and genetics and air condition, beds, fertilizers, animal captive breeding, stuff like that. we change the world because we're to impatient, and have too much pride to change ourselves and now, we're so used to adapting the environment to suit ourselves, that even if we wanted to throw it all away, we can't evolve anymore, if anything, we've probably retrogressed on the evolutionary line because of this, and if we were left to our own devices, we'd probably all die without our air conditioning, medicines, genetics and all those things that make us comfortable in a world that we've essentially created for ourselves by destroying and changing the environment to that point of no return that the planet is quickly ( ... )
