And, I thought Steven Spielberg was still the general king of films, without going off the severely beaten path. Woody Allen & Alfred Hitchcock probably rank up there. Kubrick and Sergio Leone are well appreciated as well.. hell, for pure geek jerk-off factor, you can't beat George Lucas. Sam Peckinpah (Peck-in-paw) for having a silly name. Polanski, if you ignore the little stuatory rape.. Scorsese? Stone? How about Orson Welles? Citizen Kane rocks my socks, and your socks, and everybody's socks. It's that rocking.
The best part about this comment, is I avoided being a complete pompous film afficionado, and did stick to mainstream directors.
