Wow J you really have it in for the land downunder. Whoever's heading there to study should never really read this. It'll just make em depressed.

But well, what to do? I can't afford a UK/US/Canadian education and I do not want to spend another 3 years in clementi in SIM when I could be doing 1.5 years somewhere else.

it's more of my own perception of the place, of course there are always "10 reasons to study in Australia" and so on, but these are the facts at hand...

Actually, Canada is cheaper that Australia, even in Ontario. Certain Universities in the UK will let you into 2nd year, and it's not really expensive when you compare Brisbane with say, Birmingham or Coventry, just so long as it's outside London... U.S. is expensive and there are lots of duds but if you can get into the top universities there, then yes, no matter what it costs, it's worth it.

But rock bottom destination has to be New Zealand.

My mom wasn't even keen on letting me go to Oz. I'll have a harder time convincing her about countries that are more than 8 hours away. -_-

I'd travel to NZ but I sure as hell wouldn't study there.

If you can study 1.5 years for a degree then why not, go do it.

However as i mentioned, the market there is just basically geared up to make money from foreign students at every opportunity so keep an eye out. And i've a friend over in Brisbane, she doesn't really like the sort of environment there...i'm not sure what's wrong with Brisbane but from how she describes it, i'm pretty glad i never took a place there.
