“I hate you.”

“I’m sorry.” Hankyung said. “How would I know that Greenland would be a little cold?”

“A little? A little?! It’s below ZERO!” Heechul shouted back.

“It’s actual above zero...” Hankyung corrected. Heechul narrowed his eyes at him.

“Any person with common sense would’ve checked.” Heechul blew into his hands to keep warm.

“The brochures might have been a little misleading.”

“As the name, who names this place Greenland when everything here is white!” Heechul growled. “I demand a change in the name! And it will get done.”

Hankyung shifted his eyes. “Don’t think you have that type of authority.”

Heechul shivered as he huddled his sweater closer together. “And now here we are trapped in some cave in the middle of this godforsaken wasteland-“

“Greenland isn’t a wasteland-“

“Don’t you dare correct me.” Heechul muttered angrily.

Hankyung bit his lip as he held his knees to his chest, he then looked up at him and opened his mouth when Heechul said. “Yes, I do blame you just so you know.” Hankyung dropped his head.

Heechul sighed, he rubbed his arms fiercely to try to form some sort of warmth but it was beyond freezing. The snow hadn’t reached the inside of the cave but it continued to fall outside.

“Next time I’m following my gut and not taking that path cause-as you can tell Hankyung-it didn’t get us to our cabin faster and we’re still stuck outside!”

Heechul watched from the corner of his eyes at Hankyung “What do you think you’re doing?”

“Taking off my sweater.” Hankyung replied, Heechul placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him.

“Either you have officially lost it or you are an idiot.”

There was a hint of a pout on his face. “I’m not an idiot.”

“Good, and for once I’d prefer it if you would please prove me wrong and keep that sweater on you. Even you’re not immune to the cold despite how invincible you may think you are.” Heechul crossed his arms. “Were you trying to make my life more miserable by forcing me to carry a dead body? Cause I promise you I will leave you here.”

Hankyung shook his head. “I was going to give you my sweater.”

Heechul scoffed. “And why would you do that?”

“Because you’re cold.” He answered simply as he rubbed his own arms.

Heechul blinked, he opened his mouth but then closed it as he thought over his response. He then decided to act on it instead as he scooted closer towards Hankyung who raised his eyebrows. Heechul noted his expression and shrugged. “They say you’re supposed to be this close to keep warm, this way we can both live.”

Hankyung chuckled. “Just know I’m only keeping you alive so I can kill you later.” Hankyung nodded but still kept his smile. Hankyung was used to his abusive behavior and one of the few who could take it and still choose to be his friend.

Hankyung sighed. The thought that they were just friends made his heart heavy.

“What are you so depressed about?” Heechul asked. “If anything I should be.” He added.

Hankyung shook his head. “It’s nothing, just… Wondering of possibilities.”

“Same.” Heechul murmured, his shoulder rubbed against his, Hankyung’s heart skipped a beat. “Such as a warm fire and an electric blanket, as well as dancing over your tombstone.”

“What?” Hankyung asked, he was too distracted by their closeness to hear his mild threat.

“Nothing.” Heechul sang. “Absolutely nothing.”

Heechul’s teeth chattered when the cold air rushed inside. “Too cold.” He repeated under his breath, he closed his eyes and held himself tighter.

Hankyung held his breath as he took Heechul by the waist and held him close to his chest. Heechul was startled but relished in the warmth; he laid his head on his shoulder and closed his eyes.

This was the first time Hankyung ever held Heechul or even took the initiative. Heechul was more prone to skin-ship than he was, though it was with his other friends. The closest they’ve ever been were when they sat side by side on his couch. He remembered how nervous he was. It seemed like nothing compared to how he was feeling now.
Hankyung had to resist from just rubbing his back, from caressing his shoulders or stroking his hair-

Resist. Resist.

“Mind being just a little quiet?” Heechul asked out loud. “I don’t know what exactly you’re mumbling about but you’re keeping me awake.”

Hankyung murmured. “It’s probably not a good idea though to sleep though. In times like this you should stay awake.”

Heechul kept his eyes closed. “It’s fine, I know nothing will happen.”

Hankyung looked outside. “How do you know?” He looked back as Heechul smiled.

“Because I know.”

“How?” Hankyung asked.

“Because you’re here watching over me.” Heechul explained. “That’s the best assurance there is.”

Hankyung breathed out, remain calm and resist he told himself. How easy it sounded but impossible it felt at the moment. He noticed Heechul rubbing his bare hands together, he never bought any gloves. Hankyung took his hands into his, Heechul opened his eyes and looked up at him.

“I’d say thanks but this is your fault that I’m freezing.” Heechul reminded. He snuggled against him; Hankyung was alarmed but had to keep his composure.

“Still cold.” Heechul said, Hankyung tilted his head.

“Where?”

“Everywhere, but I’d doubt you can help.”

Hankyung took that into offense. “Where are you cold?”

“As I said, everywhere.” Heechul replied coolly.

“Tell me where.”

“Mmm, it’s mostly my hands,” His right hand clasped his hands. “My neck,” He moved his left arm beside his neck. Heechul stayed quiet.

“Where else?” Hankyung asked.

Heechul shook his head. “Even you can’t keep me completely warm.”

“Where else?” Hankyung repeated, he held Heechul even closer. Heechul fidgeted with his hands, focusing completely on them as he answered-

“My lips.” Heechul looked up at him.

Hankyung widened his eyes, he was in complete shock as he locked eyes with him. Heechul blinked and waited for his response, completely innocent if possible. Heechul shrugged as he broke away from his stare. “Don’t worry, I was only teasing.” Heechul withdrew his hands away from Hankyung’s and blew into them.

Hankyung remained quiet, he drew the courage to stutter out. “O-only teasing?”

“Mm-hmm, why? Hoping for more?” He teased again. He furrowed his eyebrows when he didn’t hear a response and tilted his head up when he felt lips crashing down on his.

Before he could react Hankyung pulled away just as quickly and shut his eyes. “Sorry, sorry, really sorry.”

“Of course you’d be.” Heechul said. “You’re always sorry, ever think that maybe it’s something you don’t need to apologize for.”

Hankyung met his eyes. “Really?” He asked with a hint of excitement in his voice. Heechul smirked.

“Just know, you better not be expecting anything that involves one piece of clothing leaving my body because I swear if I die of frostbite, I am haunting you until you die and making sure you never rest in peace.” Heechul declared.

Hankyung widened his eyes, Heechul laughed as he knew of Hankyung’s fear of ghosts and often teased him about it. A trait that was quite misleading.

Heechul sighed as he looked up. “Kiss me if you dare and realize what you’re heading into.” He warned with a smile.

Hankyung held him tighter against him. “So then I can?” He asked eagerly.

“Yes, take advantage of me while I’m at my weakest.” Hankyung kissed his cheek and Heechul looked on disappointingly. “I know you can do better than that.” Heechul smiled as their lips met once again, this time he was able to savor it. He had to admit, there was no better way to keep warm than this.
