paradigm_twist[Y][FF]Summary: He grew up knowing his soul mate was wandering around somewhere. Memories still fresh in his mind of their past, and the moment he found him, he swore he wasn't going to let him go so easily.
-
He wondered if he remembered.
They had sworn to those blasted stars above that they'd be together despite the generations; despite who they became, no matter what time they were born in.
Yet, his partner always seemed to be a little late when it came to remembering their past lives, leaving Yunho stubbornly impatient. The moment he spotted his soul mate outside the cafe, he bolted out of the place, determinedly following him for hours throughout the city despite the blistering cold. Until finally, his partner stood still in a nearby park, checking his cell phone every so often, seemingly enjoying the frigid embrace of the winter air.
Yunho swayed back and forth, his hands in his pockets as he faked whistled, staring at the large man-made lake beside them.
He continued to steal glimpses his way, torn between wanting to scold the other for making him wait so long, and wanting to hug him just as tightly in relief.
His partner suddenly turned around, taking in the people around him when he met Yunho's gaze. Flustered, he turned back around, this time walking a little faster.
Difficult as always.
He continued to follow him, keeping a short distance away, but the other continued to glance back. The man suddenly turned around and face painting a nervous expression, "Are you following me?"
"There's no knife behind my back, I assure you."
The man still seemed unconvinced.
"This is a public park," Yunho looked around. "It's purely coincidental that I happened to be walking on the only path available as you are."
The man seemed embarrassed, silently agreeing with the observation as he turned away.
Yunho sighed. Their short exchange had just proven to him that the other hadn't remembered at all. He couldn't help but sang his dilemma quietly. "Because you and I are meant to be. Yet you're just as clueless as ever."
The man may have heard it. For a moment he froze, but just as abruptly, he started running away.
And so the chase began.
"You can't run away from our fate!" Yunho yelled after him. Shouting that only made the other pick up his pace. He wanted to yell for the man to stop and come to his senses, but he thought about it and considered the chase as part of his retribution.
In their first lifetime, his memories reminded him that the other had pined after him for years; trying to win his affections futilely. Had always suffered from his obliviousness.
So, it was Yunho's turn to chase after him throughout each lifetime now. The moment these memories were awakened, he'd search endlessly until he finally found the other.
They swore on the stars before that they'd always find one another. In each lifetime. No matter the circumstances. While some were worse off than the others, it was all-
"Wait! What's your name now?!"
"STAY AWAY FROM ME!"
Yunho shook his head in exasperation. As if he could ever do that. "You know I can't do that!"
He thanked the heavens that this man wasn't as fast and that his own body had enough stamina. That and the man was clumsy enough to trip suddenly over nothing. He easily caught up with him and helped the reluctant man over to a nearby bench.
"Why are you doing this?"
"Because I care." Yunho answered simply.
"I don't want your care." The man retorted coldly, attempting to pull his arm back but Yunho merely continued to check his arm for any injuries.
"You do. You truly do." Yunho insisted. "Now give me your name." He of course, naturally needed to know what his soulmate was called in this lifetime.
The man seemed to be threatened by him, although his voice suggested nothing of the sort.
"..Jaejoong..." He said reluctantly.
Yunho smiled, memorizing the name. He looked up to see his lover giving him an uneasy expression. They may have gotten off the wrong foot.
They always seemed to.
"Don't worry. You'll love me soon enough." Yunho muttered under his breath as he looked over his other arm.
He may have said it a little too confidently. And loudly it seemed. Jaejoong instantly scooted away from him in fear.
But Yunho was certain it'd happen. And the moment when Jaejoong realized this too, then he'd know that this was all worth it. It was always worth it. And until then, he'd chase him till the end of time.
"Do I know you?" Jaejoong asked suddenly, studying the other. "You seemed familiar somehow."
Yunho smiled.
He'd know soon enough.
