"How can you possibly eat that?" Sungmin said in mild disgust as he sat on the park bench that late cool afternoon, crossing his arms over the table.
Rainie cut up the pieces of star fruit in her and grinned. "I don't see why people hate it so much, they're delicious." Sungmin arched an eyebrow, doubting that comment, as he stared warily at the fruit. "It's an acquired taste, much like how you are." She added.
"...I'm flattered."
Rainie held out one of the pieces, waiting patiently for the other to eat it. Sungmin shifted his eyes, making sure no one was looking as he leaned in and took a bite.
"You care too much about what people think." Rainie reasoned. Sungmin quickly swallowed the sour fruit and was taken aback.
"I do not."
Rainie continued to break apart the pieces. "There's still clothes in your closet with price tags, always recent bought along with fifty pair of shoes. Always brand name. You refuse to associate yourself with anything second-rate."
Sungmin looked down at his attire and cleared his throat uneasily. "I like to splurge every now and then, nothing's wrong with that."
"If you say so." Sungmin lowered his eyes. "You're a trendsetter... Or more like a trend follower I guess." Rainie finished the last of the fruit as she cleaned her hands on the napkins.
Sungmin stood behind her, lifting her bridal style as she naturally placed her arms around his neck. Rainie gave a thoughtful glance as he lowered her onto the wheelchair, grabbing the blanket and placing it over her lap.
"You don't have to help me. Just because auntie said to take care of me, doesn't mean you have to force yourself."
"I thought we discussed this already." He pushed the chair through the sidewalks. "You're making it sound as if they forced me."
Rainie lowered his eyes, he noted her silence.
"It doesn't bother you?" She slowly asked afterward. Sungmin stopped, stepping around as he lowered himself beside her. She glanced at her legs and gave a solemn smile, feeling just as secondhand.
"Of course not." Sungmin uttered, knowing her silent insecurity. His hand reaching out to fix strands of her hair. "I'm starting to think you're the one who's embarrassed of me."
Rainie gave a silent laugh as Sungmin waved his hands in front of her eyes. They're far from pale in Sungmin's opinion, far from plain as she or others described them as.
"I won't ever give you up." He declared as he grabbed her hand.
Rainie glanced at their intertwining hands. "How do you know that?" Sungmin brought her hand to his lips and smiled, earning a flustered look from the other.
"I just do."
