Well for anybody wanting to know. My family and I are ok. We lost a few roof tiles. Only to find that they had smashed the windshield on my car. My car has gasoline but cannot be driven anywhere. I am using my mom's car and I finally have to bite the bullet and get gas. It is nearly at quarter of a tank. And that little bit will be needed to wait ( Read more... )

Yep we were in candlelight/flashlight and bored to tears. And with my mom there it is not like my hubby and I could have busied ourselves doing nefarious things either. Thank god I had gone to the used book store and got a lot of books.

I'm glad you're okay! The gas thing was a crisis here before the storm hit because everyone filled up their two cars, their ski doos (one guy did that. I don't know why) and their 34 gas cans to run their generators.

It will all be better soon.

Thanks! People were not scrambling for gas before hand. Everybody filled the tanks and that was it. But everybody is starting to run out now. And Miami, as you know is not an ordinary city. You almost cannot live here and not have a car. I actually live exactly 22 miles from where I work.

Here on the Beach, the line is under 2 hours on 41st Street. Come over tomorrow, and we'll bring you snacks! How is your husband doing?

Thanks for the offer but from where I live I would burn too much gas. I live west and south of metrozoo. Snacks would have been good thanks. My hubby has been directing traffic and hating it. He has had to wear his uniform again and his hips hurt. He fits into his uniform fine. It is just his batman utility belt that is giving him problems. It is heavy and he has skinny hips. Look out for the White cop, with the chin length hair wearing a ball cap. He is not used to the heat and the polyester uniform but he is only working 3pm - 1am. Glad to see you made it through ok. Take care!

I'm waiting for the lines to be a bit shorter. I still have over half a tank. woot!!! Unfortunately, I did not get my paycheck. I am pissed. Must find a job where the employer pays via direct deposit. I'm tired of worrying.

Welcome back to ekeltricity!
