more importantly

I need paperbacks to read. However, I obviously don't want crap, I need something catchy but something that is not a waste of time.

All suggestions are appreciated, but I'm pretty much directing this question to sakura_girl and archieleach, because they read a lot and stuff.

Have you finished A Breath of Snow and Ashes?
Cause if you haven't, you know damn well what you should be reading.

I'm expecting a nice e-mail. I know I owe you one too, which I'll for sure get around to writing in the near future.

I can not believe you haven't read it yet. Gah.

Bernard Cornwell is good for the catchy historical fiction. I reccomend his King Arthur trilogy. There's also "His Majesty's Dragon" and the rest of that series.

I actually read that King Arthur series some years ago. I've tried the Sharpe books but I haven't been able to get into it.

I'm thinking of maybe finding a paperback version of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

oh! That would be nice! I leave in exactly two weeks. My flight is in the evening of the 5th.

The hardcover is rather monstrous, do you think the paperback would be manageable?

I haven't read that, but archieleach loved it.

Since you're going to England, you should read this.

Adrian Mole is the best English diarist...Bridget Jones totally ripped him off. That's the first book, there's several more. Adrian is now in his mid-30s, has two kids, and works in a bookshop. He's hysterically clueless.

Any other suggestions? Something "intellectual"? But that I'll understand.

Hey, I have that book - in paperback. I'm pretty sure it's a purchase my father made at least five years ago at the Children's Hospital book fair. I'd just have to dig it out for you....because I am SOME FRIEND!!!
