I've been thinking for a little while about the possibilities of starting up another event in Wellington in the vein of Shadowplay etc.. I wasn't going to worry about it for a bit, given I've got enough going on in my own life at the moment, but a
recent post on nz_goth got me thinking again, and I have to admit I'm missing having regular events.

art installations and bloodletting ceremonies?
i'm happy with just DJs. Bands for special occasions. Bands are a lot
harder to organise and there are not many that fit with these genres
in NZ. I do want to dance, but also to just hang out and chat. It
has to start small and grow from there.
* How frequent or non-frequent is good?
6 weeks? which is a pain to schedule. So maybe 4 if enough people support it.
* What's important? should it focus on a particular (sub)genre of music?
imo the NZ scene is too small to focus on a subgenre of an already
small scene. So i'd say a night which played all of goth/ dark
80s/ebm/ industrial/ darkwank/ whatever is best.
* are drink specials important or just a bonus?
Just a bonus. If the music's good, I'm happy to pay to support the
bar/ event. Many bars have a 2-3 year life and then change hands due
to losses.
