I've been composing the same post in my head for a few days now.  About how I don't want to be obnoxious, but that I must acknowledge how happy I am with how great I look and feel after starting the South Beach Diet, and how easy it's been and how it's changed my life...  now if only I could actually start cutting out carbs and doing the damn thing ( Read more... )

What's the South Beach diet? I am tempted. :D

Oops, I wrote that confusingly. I totally haven't started it yet, but I'm imagining all the benefits in vivid detail while I procrastinate setting out.

HOWEVER a whole bunch of my parents' friends did it and lost quite a bit of weight. You do two weeks of basically no-carbs, then two weeks where you introduce a few, and then go back to a more regular eating plan, where you've been weaned off them a little. I could never go Atkins, but I reckon if there was an end in sight I might be able to go carb-free for a while.

Yes! I loved that part of The Office too! I noticed that immediately and loved that they hadn't totally dropped the Angela sort of likes Roy storyline completely.

Congratulations on looking and feeling great! I am a total carb girl, I love pasta, rice, bread, potatoes and I wouldn't even begin to cut them out. Can I ask how long you've been doing it? I keep thinking that I should actually start doing something to get back in shape, but I can't pick a diet/exercise plan, so I am certainly interested to hear how you found it and how it worked for you if you're willing to share.

I have had this wicked bruise on my forearm for at least a week and a half now that is only just staring to yellow and fade. It's been quite interesting watching its black/purple/green/yellow progression :) Hope your black eye is going down okay!

Hee, I was a bit unclear above. I totally haven't started the diet yet, but I'm being terribly self-indulgent about imagining how great and easy it's going to be. Ridiculous I know! I am going to miss carbs like crazy, if I ever get started, but the good thing about SB is that you only cut them out properly for the first two weeks and then gradually reintroduce them. Several of my parents' friends did it recently and lost quite a bit of weight. I am doing just fine weight wise, but know I need to tone up and cut down my portion sizes if I want to keep slim throughout my 20s, so I thought this might be a good kick-start. We'll see...

The Office is so consistantly perfect, that between it and FNL I feel utterly spoiled for good tv.

My black eye's fine now, thanks. Was never that swollen, just grey, so for a while there everyone thought I had really smudged mascara!

Oh, gosh, whoops now I see. My brain must have skipped over "now if only I could actually start cutting out carbs and doing the damn thing." You know, the part where you say you haven't actually started. I was just really excited for you, heh. I am exactly the same as you, okay with my weight, (although probably more is fat and less is muscle than I'd like) but super-keen to tone up and portion properly ( ... )

No, it was totally unclear before - I edited after you & obsessive24 both got the wrong end of the stick. Which is a good thing - I would have felt silly if everyone thought I was ACTUALLY bragging about weight loss.

I'm still a few eps behind on FNL because I'm staying at home and they have a download cap. I know what you mean about the games - I get really into them, while I generally find an NZ vs Aus rugby game totally boring. Very out of character for me! It also meant it took me a lot longer to get on board with the show, despite all of LJ pimping it out for the longest time.
