The whole situation with the BC school system and the BCTF is ridiculous. They haven't been able to agree on a contract for ten years. They've had contracts legislated into effect four times. At this point, all either side does is wait for a favourable government to come along an enact a contract in their favour. There's no incentive for the two sides to work things out.

I'm not one to complain about a couple days off, but if this goes on for too long, it could get hard to catch up.
