My attitude when I worked on the floor regarding pain was that if you were hooked on narcs I didn't hook you and I'm not going to fix you. Pain is what you say it is when you say it is, and if your respiratory rate and blood pressure can handle it and you have an order for it if you want it you've got it. It is not hard for me to walk to the med room pull it and walk to your room and give it. It takes me all of 2 minutes ( ... )

I hope that I treat every patient with at least the semblance of compassion. I say that because even if I don't believe you are in pain, I will get you what you are prescribed when you can get it. I leave my personal feelings out of it. The only time I wouldn't medicate is if they are over sedated as it is.

This particular patient was driving me nuts. She must have felt she could trust me or the meds were having a truth serum effect about some things. The details about how to cheat the welfare system were scary. She was very versed in deception and that alone was pissing me off...
