I sometimes wonder if conformity may be the answer. Look at all of the people in the world divided by the tiniest of issues. Now look at all of the people divided by larger things, such as politics. Remember those sci-fi movies where freedom was traded for sameness? Maybe they are given an alternate type of freedom: they do not have to make ( Read more... )

I can attest to never hearing you sing that and I'm sure others can as well. :-)

Anyway, as much as I don't like Bush, I'm trying to get more informed about him and Kerry so I won't just be voting aganist Bush as much as I'm voting for Kerry. For example, I know I'm voting for Kerry when Bush says things like: "Yes, I have made some mistakes in appointing people but I'm not going to name them because I don't want to hurt their feelings." Right. Not to say Kerry always says or does the right things but he's not as grossly incompetent as Bush, a man who shifts the blame for some of the nation's problems today to the previous (Clinton) administration ( ... )

Sometimes I wonder if I should vote for Bush because it's really unlikely that in times of war that the current president will lose. People have the idea that staying the same is safe and a part of me agrees. We're still alive aren't we and this would be Bush's last term. I don't know who it's going to come down to. It seems like Kerry wants to do too much too fast and that can be dangerous sometimes...and on the other hand maybe he knows he's that damn good. All I'm worried about is staying alive and the end of all this war.

I agree on getting risd of the electoral college.. I distinctly remember learning in Civics (ah, Cesare) that the reason the Founding Fathers put that in was they thought the average american was not well-informed enough to pick the right leader for the country. Now-adays we are obviously alot more educated and polititions are alot more corrupt so we should kick the system out the door.
