Day 1: Your favorite song
Well, fuck. Why does this have to be so difficult? Um. DNW to answer this. :|
I just. Some songs I love because of how someone sings it (
Michael Arden - Run Away With Me), or because of who sings it (just about any Kris Allen song), or because it was there at a powerful, personal moment (
Hillsong United - Still) or because... I don't even know. Some abstract~ reason. I have a favorite, like, song by some artist that doesn't necessarily rank higher or lower than my favorite song from another artist, I have a favorite sad song, a favorite happy song, a favorite grieving song, and... LOL I'm never gonna be able to answer this question properly. D: So here, have an arbitrary list:
1. John Mayer - Comfortable [
YouTube]
Mayer is probably the musician that I love the most. He's definitely the one I've loved the most intensely for the longest period of time - seven years and counting. And Comfortable is hands-down my favorite song of his. I just. It's so beautiful and emotional and raw and it breaks my heart like absolutely nothing else.
2. Spring Awakening - Touch Me [
YouTube]
As
my Last.fm shows, I am obsessed with this song. Duncan Shiek, dude. The harmonies are so gorgeous, and I don't think I've ever gone a whole week without listening to some version of this song. Sitting onstage while the Manila cast sang the shit out of this is something I don't think I'll ever forget. That is, until I get my ass to the States and experience the real thing.
3. Sara Bareilles - Gravity [
YouTube]
I guess I'm a sucker for songs that make me cry? IDK, I'm just thinking of these off the top of my head. I fucking adore this song, and
Emma Hunton's cover in particular kills me in the best possible way.

Day 2: Your favorite movie
And again - I really don't have one favorite, but my brain immediately went to this. The true mark of an excellent movie, to me, is how many times I can watch it without getting tired of it. And this one - I've seen it over two dozen times, and it still makes me cry like a baby. And the thing about it is - I don't even cry at the same parts. Different stories touch me at different times, and that's how I know this will always be one of my favorite movies of all time. Mark/Juliet and unrequited love is the one that hits me the hardest most of the time, but there's exquisite pain in the cheating one, the siblings one, and little Sam, holy shit.
It's the holiday season, and that means it's just about time to pull this out again and have another cry fest. I can't wait. :)
