I wouldn't mind at all if the Obama campaign ran advertising that labels McCain as a child of privilege, as a politician who's turned his back on his own reputation as a maverick, as a highly predictable enemy of working people. Would you mind?
LATER NOTE: After about thirty comments and replies, I wrote the following in reply to one particular comment. It's to give an idea, right here in the post, of where I'm coming from on this subject:
I spent three hours yesterday at an Obama office in Pittsburgh, making calls. Before the primary I was knocking on doors for days on end. This summer, I'm working part-time for a political action organization, doing telephone surveys in key states. In talking to people in those key states, it's appalling to learn that so many of them have positive notions about McCain while knowing nothing about his political record, while with Obama, many have the notion that he's WAY OUT THERE, far to the left of not only McCain, but to the left of HRC. Much education needs to be done, even if it has to be done in 30-second commercials, about not only who Obama is, and what he believes in, but also how having McCain in the White House would further damage us.
