I like a lot of these, but I have to disagree with you on the Dashboard Confessional pick. The acoustic version is definitely the way to go.

the acoustic version doesn't have incredible drumming. i had the option of going with a good song with a bit more of a raw side, or a good song with a mind-boggling drum track on top of it. and besides, at least in the recording i have, the acoustic version doesn't climax as noticeably as the electric version, and i don't get as much effect from the subtlety.

I guess I'm just biased because I heard the acoustic version first, and I'm kinda attached to it.

I think you should put "ghost of corporate future" by regina spektor on that list over "us". its my optimism song, I fear nothing and no one when I hear that song. :)

I'd probably agree with you on the rest, but I haven't heard of some of the bands...but I love The Mars Volta, Cake, The Beatles, etc...I just haven't heard those songs.
