Hee hee! Does that look like snow, or what? :P I am
quite pleased with the spackle results. This lesser degree of
bumpiness looks more natural to me, and should lend itself to glueing
on model train grass better than the styrofoam. I also took the
opportunity to carve a wee duck pond in the top of the Hill, toward the
back. You probably can't see it, but don't worry, you will in the
future. ;) In the front I defined the little vertical areas
where I want rock retaining walls, and finally carved out the stairs to
the front door.
That wire hanging down is connected to the electrical system underneath
all the styrofoam, newspaper, etc. I ran a wire way out here so
the hobbitses can have an outdoor light! I have a little lantern
for this purpose, that I will either put on a post or hang from the
gate or something. You can also see where the house comes apart in these
pictures. The pieces have been seperate all this time, but the
lines weren't visible in the styrofoam picture because I didn't have
newspaper stuffed in the cracks. So now you can all be reassured:
yes, there is a way to get into this dollhouse. ;P
Just for the heck of it, I have drawn in where everything will go on the finished Hill! Observe my sophisticated diagram:
Annoyingly enough, 10 lbs was not quite enough spackle.
>:-( The very back of the top portion, and the back of the
right side, are not covered. Sigh! I guess another trip to
Wal-Mart is in order. After I wake up, in about 12 hours, that
is. 0:-)
Good night!!
