[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Yes.
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
NO. don't need to screw-up my body any more than it all ready is
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
I am against it with a few exceptions: rape, incest and when the mother's life is endangered.
[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
hell no. I think a female president would be a good thing
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Definitely. There are some crimes so heinous that they deserve death
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
I think it should definitely be legalized for medical purposes, but still knida on the fence about legalizing it in general
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
against, but I am not so naive to think that it won't happen so I think we should be educating our kids on safe sex practices.
[08] Do you believe in God?
Yes.
[09] Do you think same-sex marriage should be legalized?
If you love each other and want to commit to spending the rest of your lives together, then I say yes. Working health care its heart breaking sometimes to watch a partner be denied access to their loved one because they aren't related and have no say in what happens to them.
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Yes. I think people who want to live in this country need to come here legally like all the other people who came here. I also think that anyone that moves to this country needs to learn the primary language of this country: English. I can understand it taking awhile to learn a new language, but if you've been here 10-20+ years you should be able to interact with the majority of this society rather than expect them to cater to you. My mom got turned away from jobs in San Antonio that she was more than qualified for because she didn't speak Spanish and that makes me angry.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
I don't think kids that young should be having sex and I think their parents should be shot. And I certainly don't think they should keep the child because they are still a child themselves and in no position to raise one.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
You can be called on to die for your country but you can't drink alcohol? Yes, I think the age should be lowered.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
I believe Saddam needed to be removed, but I think it should have been done the first Gulf War. I think that we should be focusing on the real threat, which is Afghanistan. Our military is stretched to breaking and we need to pull out of Iraq.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
No. Working in health care I see too many people suffering with debilitating conditions that have no hope of recovery. We go up and up on their meds but eventually the pain will become too much to mask and then they suffer for as long as they remain alive. And then there are the people who have a condition that will eventually rob them of the use of their body or mind; why can't we offer them the dignity of choosing the time of their death? We can relieve the suffering of our pets when they're dying, but we can't do the same for our loved ones? I think it is wrong and cruel.
On a side note, Jack Kevorkian is running for Congress and happens to be doing so in my congressional district.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Yes. I think today's society has become too permissive and a good spanking wouldn't hurt some of these kids. My parents spanked me and I think I turned out all right. There is a line though between spanking and beating.
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Burning a flag is the appropriate method to retire a flag that is worn beyond repair/use, so I don't see a problem with burning the flag. It is what people say as they do so that is inappropriate. If I was offered money to burn a flag, I'd take the money and give the flag an appropriately respectful burning ceremony.
[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
I am by no means a Democrat. I was raised in a predominantly Republican household. In 2000 I would have voted for John McCain in a heart beat. That being said, the John McCain of today is really a pod-person as far as I am concerned. His stances on Iraq/Afghanistan and his voting record on military funding appall me and his health-care platform worries me. There are several issues I disagree with Obama about, but, of the two, I find myself in a position where I will vote for him as the lesser of two evils
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Possibly, but I have stood up to criticism before and survived.
