Not that I agree with any of it, but you could reconcile the two with a simple "white guys are normal; everyone else is weird."

The second notion is a equal if not greater fallacy. In fact, if anything, the WASP experience -- with its denial of self and suppression of sentiment -- is the unique life experience that others (with a cultural exception here and there) can't fully understand.
